“Mr Black & Blues” is the working name of Blues man, Michael Pollitt. A freak surfing accident, in which he broke his neck, resulted in him losing the use of his left hand. The doctors doubted he would be able to play guitar again, but, through persistence, he slowly recovered and the playing of music, greatly assisted in his recuperation.
This album is a tribute, as much to the courage and determination shown by Michael, as to his musical ambitions.
Recorded in London’s famed Toerag Studios, this selection features Michael accompanied by some of London’s finest Blues/Roots musicians, all live in the room. The songs are Michael’s, although inspired by such Blues greats as Blind Willie Johnson, Josh White, as well as Bob Dylan and Taj Mahal. |
